Wonder Girl

The 32-year-old blonde bombshell is gearing up for her third studio country album, led by the boot-stompin’ single “Kentucky Dirty” out this month. We caught up with her the night before she hit the stage in celebration of Cumulus Media’s new NASH magazine (out now!) at Terminal West. Here, she talks hip-hop, Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise and more.

How would you describe your sound?
I want to make country music that can be played in your car and at the club. When I was in high school, I had Biggie and Tupac in my car, but I also had the Dixie Chicks and Shania [Twain]. We [contemporary country singers] were born in a time where hip-hop was becoming mainstream, and we all had [MC] Hammer pants at 10 years old. Cowboy hats and Hammer pants!

You’re a comedy queen on your YouTube show, Cooter County, where you regularly spoof Bravo’s The Real Housewives. Give us the scoop.
It’s actually become very popular with the gay community. It’s my sense of humor. I’m like a gay man trapped in the body of a pageant girl. The Real Housewives of Cooter County are redneck, nothing glamorous about it!

Who’s your favorite housewife?
I kind of love the hot mess one from New Jersey, Teresa. She had me at that amazing dinner where she went crazy and knocked the table over.
