Wine About It

Skip the Uber-hop for dinner, drinks and dancing and book it to City Winery, Ponce City Market’s new one-stop shop for chef-driven cuisine and nightly entertainment. The brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of storied New York music venue Knitting Factory, this new-to-market concept offers a vast vino library, tapas-style eats and a concert roster of rockin’ musicians. With locations in New York; Napa Valley, Calif.; Chicago; and Nashville, Tenn., the first Georgia outpost is an expansive two-story, 26,000-square-foot space meant for engaging large to intimate crowds. The wood-clad environment composed of repurposed wine barrels sports all the charm of a functioning urban winery doling out housemade sips in a multipurpose venue for live shows, food classes and private dining. Upstairs, a Mediterranean-inspired menu with forays like the signature vodka-whipped goat cheese “dirty martini” dip, rotating seasonal flatbreads, and lamb and beef burgers also has hints of the South in headliners like shrimp and grits, and buttermilk fried chicken. Cocktails and craft beers are at the ready with the real star of the show being the curated list of 400-plus wines, providing just the sip you need to take the party into overdrive. Downstairs, the dining experience intensifies in a 300-seat concert venue. International touring acts including Macy Gray, The Bacon Brothers and Aaron Neville, plus independent artists ranging from bluegrass and hip-hop to neo-soul and rock ’n’ roll acts, place City Winery at the top of our summer bucket list. Rock on! Ponce City Market, 650 North Ave. NE, 404.946.3791, @citywineryatl
