Westside Story

By Ashton Pike | October 1, 2018 | Articles National

“I love that Atlanta is small and accessible enough to make your mark in whatever industry you choose, but also large enough that you have access to world-class food, culture and amenities,” says Courtney Hamill, a born-and-raised Atlantan with a knack for ceramics that eventually flourished into a full-blown business she dubbed Honeycomb Studio. “ I also love that the different neighborhoods have their own personalities and you can choose the one that appeals most to you.” As for this outgoing entrepreneur and mother of two, industrial-chic West Midtown called her home. She says, “That undercurrent of grind and old-school work really resonates with me and is woven into every piece of luxurious porcelain that comes out of my studio.” But what’s a hardworking woman without her go-to getaway spots? Here, Hamill reveals her top five scenes for when a few minutes of me-time (or date night with the hubby) is a must-have. @honeycombstudio

01/ “JCT. Kitchen & Bar (404.355.2252, Westside Provisions District,
@jctkitchenandbar) is my go-to for cocktails and appetizers. I love sitting on their low-key patio, right next to the railroad track, drinking some of the most delicious, seasonal cocktails in the city. Do not miss their Angry Mussels.”

02/ “The Goat Farm Arts Center (1200 Foster St. NW, @thegoatfarm) is one of my favorite places to take a walk on the Westside and soak up its creative vibe. There’s a hidden donation-based coffee shop too, which gives me a good reason to stop by.”

03/ “Working out has been a little aspirational lately, but I try to get down to one of The Daily’s (981 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., Ste. 108, @thedailyatl) Pilates Reformer classes. The studio is beautiful and also has some nontraditional classes that will kick your booty.”

04/ “Star Provisions (1460 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd., @starprovisions) is definitely my go-to for breakfast, lunch, pastries and coffee. I go there for business meetings, and I also take my son there for their macarons, which he calls ‘happy birthday cookies’ because they’re so colorful. He loves it there too.”

05/ “Seed Factory (Westside Provisions District, @seedfactory) is my favorite place to shop for my kids. They have a really hip and well-made collection of kids’ clothes full of brands that I drool over on Instagram. And the people there are wonderful.”
