On the streets of lively Virginia-Highland sits the second-ever location of Atlanta-based beauty powerhouse Van Michael Salon (@vanmichaelsalon). Now, with eight total locations under its belt, the brand was ready for its next big undertaking: a total design overhaul of the 1994 Virginia-Highland location in hopes of better matching the young neighborhood’s contemporary vibe. “With the continual growth in that neighborhood, we knew we needed to add stations and upgrade the equipment to make it the best experience for everyone,” says the brand’s owner and founder, Van Council. And it’s safe to say the Van Michael team took its ethos—“breaking ground and smashing ceilings”—to new heights after the recent unveiling revealed the salon’s sleek new look, complete with modern design elements—the marble floors being our favorite—updated amenities, and top-of-the-line haircare tools and products, among other improvements. “I really want my staff to feel like they are working in the best salon, and, of course, I want the clients to feel that same sentiment,” adds Council.
