Award-winning artist Varvara Alay is about to release a colorful new NFT collection, and you don’t want to let this series fly away.
Titled Birds of Sōlis, the series is inspired by John James Audunon's famous Birds of America, which made the American artist the first to depict all the continent’s winged creatures.
This collection features 2,022 pieces, each a vibrant interpretation of 20 different bird species. From flamingos to puffins, each animal is set in its own vivid and brightly-colored background.
Alay is a renowned artist across the globe and often takes inspiration from the Earth. Her work celebrates the natural beauty of different animal species and flowers. With that sentiment in mind, proceeds from this collection will go to Nia Tero which supports indigenous communities and ecosystems around the world.
“I have always been fascinated by birds throughout my career,” Alay says in a press release. I call them my muses. Birds feature prominently in my artwork—from my pieces on Foundation and SuperRare to my Flower Girls collection. Birds of Sōlis is dedicated to reimagining the Audubon birds, and applying my artistry to the limitless creative possibilities offered by NFTs.”
Her first NFT collection, Flower Girls, was the first female-led fine art NFT. It’s 10,000 pieces sold out in 30 minutes and earned the artist more than $16 million. Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria and Gwyneth Paltrow are among her collectors, and 20 percent of the Flower Girls profits went to children’s charities, with 5 percent supporting the next generation of children’s NFT art.
Birds of Sōlis is the first to drop on the new NFT platform Snowcrash, a collaboration between Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and Universal Music Group (UMG).
“Varvara is such an exceptional talent,” says Snowcrash co-founder Jesse Dylan. “The entire team is honored to work with her on our very first fine art NFT drop. Varvara’s work is like no other artist in the space, plus it gives immense reverence to nature and preserving the environment—something we are all committed to at Snowcrash.”
