The is the summer of Top Gun, as fans flock to theaters to celebrate the revival of the 1986 classic. The sequel, Top Gun: Maverick has received rave reviews and set the tone for an '80s-style summer, as men replicate Miles Teller’s titular character mustache and music lovers hit play on Berlin’s 1986 hit "Count Three & Pray.”
Not only is the public updating their playlists and growing new facial hair, but some have gone so far as to look for a new wardrobe.

A recent report by eBay shows searches for the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, the watch work by Tom Cruise's character wore in the original film, have increased by a whopping 1850 percent since Top Gun: Maverick opening weekend.
To truly capture the essence of this 1980s vibe, people have also been searching for the perfect shades and jackets, with searches for Ray Ban Aviators up by 19 percent and searches for flight jackets up by 25 percent.
A new wardrobe is not enough for some who feel the need for speed. The popularity of the 1958 Porsche 356, driven by Penny in the original film; and 1973 Porsche 911, driven by Jennifer Connelly in the sequel, are rising to fame as everyone's new dream ride.
Cosplaying as Tom Cruise for the summer doesn't sound like a bad idea, and it seems like the main ingredients are a slick pair of aviators and a speedy new ride. There’s been a 32 percent daily increase in searches for Tom Cruise's Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon Motorcycle, too.
Top Gun memorabilia is also getting a serious bump. Collectibles from the film were up 475 percent more in May, including Tom Skerritt's dress shirt costume and Val Kilmer's Iceman flight suit. The latter comes with a whopping $200,000 asking price. Worth it to those who have truly embraced the idea of a Top Gun summer.
Whether you're looking to start a collection of movie memorabilia or want to take on the military man aesthetic, Top Gun: Maverick is the mold for earning your cool points in the pop-culture world. The film is not showing in theaters across the country. Catch it for yourself and see if it’s worth the hype.
