Time of Her Life

By Ashton Pike | February 25, 2019 | Articles

“The music scene in Atlanta in general is great,” says 24-year-old artist Brynn Elliott. “You look back, and a lot of music has come from this town.” Now, as an ATL native and breakout star in the industry, Elliott can count herself as part of that crowd, with her first single, female-empowerment bop, “Might Not Like Me,” on repeat from local radio stations and beyond. “I feel like [Atlanta] definitely inspired me in my artistic pursuits. On some level, music has always been a subconscious thing,” says the Johns Creek-born, Sandy Springs-raised musician. “It’s always been a part of me, and when I started writing songs in high school, it felt like so much of who I am. And, now, I’m getting used to it full time, which is amazing.”

Last year was arguably the biggest year for Elliott’s career (read: the release of her debut EP, Time of Our Lives, and graduating with a degree in philosophy from Harvard University—yes, you read that right). “I have nothing but gratitude for 2018,” she says. “And I plan to keep it going this year—definitely more singles will be dropping, along with a tour.” Of course, Atlanta is a stop along the route, with Elliott expected to perform at the Fox Theatre April 2. “It’s crazy because I’ve always had a dream to play at the Fox,” she says. Concertgoers can prep themselves for a night of nonstop jams off the singer-songwriter’s EP, from “Internet You” and “Tongue Tied” to “Time of Our Lives” and more—plus a few fresh tracks.

As for what the gorgeous millennial is up to in her hometown when she’s not onstage, she says, “I love going to hang out at Krog Street Market or Ponce City Market, and taking a walk on the BeltLine. I’m also a huge fan of Star Provisions in West Midtown.” And even rising stars have their go-to shows when a bingewatching sesh calls. For Elliott, it’s currently The Great British Bake Off. “I’m going to be honest; I’m not a big fan of cooking shows or the Food Network, but this show is like watching Grey’s Anatomy for me—which I also love.” @brynnelliottmusic
