Three Atlanta fitness experts give their tips for toning up so you can strip it down just in time for summer.
You Are What You Eat
“Don’t live to eat; eat to live. It’s all in what you eat. Remember what they say: ‘Abs are made in the kitchen,’” says Aaron James, choreographer for Dance 411 and Atlanta Ballet. “When eating, I no longer count calories. This is a personal decision because I honestly dread having to keep track of my calories every day, so I focus more on what I know not to eat. I’ve always seen my best progress whenever I cut down drastically on my sugar, dairy and alcohol intake.” @aaron_drewww
Train Likean Athlete
“Want the body of an athlete? Train like one,” says Morgan Findlay, a former JEZEBEL Most Beautiful and current fitness leader at BACH. “High-intensity interval training has proven effective in both toning and bulking. With effective nutrition, desired physiques can be achieved while gaining lean muscle mass in the process. Daily goals and daily habits really set the standard. Learn to listen to your body—how it responds to certain foods, sleep and workouts.” @morgan_findlay
ConsistencyIs Key
“Find a plan that makes sense for your goals—one that’s fun and challenging, and then stick to it. Stay consistent. Then do everything you’re supposed to do along the way, consistently: workout, eat, drink water and sleep,” says Nikki Montesanti, who you can find coaching at The Sweat Shoppe or with her own clients through Nikki Fitness wellness coaching. “In the end, it’s yourself that you want to connect with, so look in; figure out what you want; find your worth; and go for it.” @nikkii_fitness
