The dog days of summer mean poolside bikini time, and also a bit of seasonal maintenance.
The ancient hair removal method has been around for millenium, but didn’t come to the US until the 80s.
For Brazilian-born Raquel Souza, there had to be a better way to get that smooth bikini line. Stripping the ancient practice of sugaring down to the basics through a lemon, sugar and water concoction, she quickly became recognized as pioneering a movement to revolutionize how women approach their wax. Enter Sweet Peach Wax & Sugaring Studio. Souza has created the Atlanta hub for arguably the most intimate cosmetic encounter, and she makes sure you feel comfortable and informed about at-home prep and maintenance. RAQUEL’S TIPS BEFORE YOUR NEXT SUGARING APPOINTMENT:
1. EXFOLIATION: Regular exfoliation helps to prevent ingrown hairs, making hair removal smoother and more effective. Exfoliate your skin at least two days before your appointment, but do not exfoliate the day of because the skin will be too sensitive to wax.
2. PREP: Before your hair removal appointment, drink at least one liter of water two hours before the appointment to hydrate your skin. Avoid applying lotions or oils, and try not to have excessive alcohol the night before.
3. POST: After removing hair, soothe your skin with a gentle body moisturizer to calm any irritation of the skin. Avoid tight clothing and excessive sweating immediately after hair removal to prevent further irritation. Wait at least three hours after treatment to have sex. After waxing, try to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week.
4. DON’TS: If you are using any topical products such as retinal, alpha hydroxy, etc., you should cease use for 7-10 days before hair removal. If you are using any form of Accutane, you cannot do any waxing. Please read all your skin care ingredients to see what is not allowed before your appointment.
5. DO: The Sweet Peach Vagina Care Kit has everything you need, a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, masque and exfoliator.
