When thinking about the resort lifestyle in Florida, a flurry of Lily Pulitzer, evenings lounging at HMF while sipping on a Martini, and also a vibrancy of an era of palm trees and sunny days that seem frozen in time. Reflecting on the glamour of the 80s and 90s resort lifestyle; there is a certain decadence yet playfulness to the idea of sipping a cocktail on the coast with sunkissed skin and not a care in the world. The brains behind Electric Hospitality are privy to the nostalgia of that era, and considering Atlanta’s land-locked nature, they thought that the perfect way to spice up The Beltline was to recall that era in a cocktail lounge concept. Strangers in Paradise (@strangersinparadise), a name that draws on the idea of escapism, is the latest establishment added to the repertoire of Electric Hospitality’s premier cocktail bars that are sprinkled all over the city, each harboring its own unique experience.

With an emphasis on fruit-forward cocktails, the ambiance centers on a tropical aesthetic with elevated resort offerings within the lively environment of the Lee + White mixed-use development. Not to mention, they are the only cocktail bar on the property where you can grab a drink as you attempt to beat the heat. As the latest watering hole on the iconic Beltline, Strangers in Paradise is the perfect change of pace for a first, second or third date. From flirty cocktails such as the Shark Bite made with blanco tequila, prickly pear, Don’s spice, and lemon to the classic Miami Vice, you will be transported straight to the pastels and palms of Florida. Keeping with the theme, a large palm canopy hangs over the U-shaped bar, and throughout the space, patrons can find vintage postcards, thrifted decor, kitschy souvenir cups and the sought-after energy of beachside lounging. So, while you may not be able to carve out a week for time in the sun, we’d consider Strangers in Paradise the next best thing to finding that lifestyle in the city. 1020 White St. SW
