Storytellers

Seeking a way to memorialize the creative people in her life who had passed away, Sasha Flynn turned to designing jewelry that she could cherish and pass down through her family. Out of that passion Adore Adorn was born, a luxury ATL-based brand featuring pieces designed by Flynn and handmade in NYC. Her recently launched debut collection is divided into two parts: Jewels and Faces. “Jewels is inspired by my mom and grandmother,” she says, noting that her mother helped her select each and every gemstone used in the collection. “None of this would be possible without these women opening my eyes to the world of art and design from a young age.”

The unique Faces collection, a collaboration with Chicago-based visual artist Troy Scat, pays homage to multiethnic women. “Their hair is the most inspiring of it all, how different it is from person to person,” Flynn explains. “I used hair as a platform to create the designs. Each one has a different style that is adorned by jewels. Our crowns are our power—that’s what I’m saying here.”

Flynn, who grew up in the Midwest and attended Parsons School of Design and SCAD, now calls Atlanta home. “I thought Atlanta would be a great place to start a business as a millennial African-American woman,” she says. “I was right! It’s definitely a place for creative entrepreneurs like myself to soar.”

Ultimately, the talented designer says her goal is to simply fill the world with love and allow others to not only connect to her stories, but share their own. “Jewelry is intimate and personal,” Flynn says. “I just want to offer people something they can hold on to.” From $280, @adore.adorn
