As you amble into Fetch Park & Ice House, Old Fourth Ward’s latest see-and-be-seen destination (and the site of Aaron Murray’s recent proposal to fiancee Sharon Stufken), you’re greeted by a red neon sign that says “Play Here.” Forget “sit,” “shake” and “heel;” this is the top command, and it’s easy to obey thanks to a plethora of unique options for both dog owners and their furry companions.

At this laid-back spot, pups run freely on the turf landscape, while humans relax and watch outdoor TVs on rustic benches crafted from old truck tailgates. When it’s time to cool off, the bar—stationed in a vintage Airstream—serves up a range of specialty cocktails, wine, and draft and canned beers. Soon, visitors will even be able to grab a bite next door at Fetch Ice House, a full-service resto boasting an outdoor patio and a shipping container bar (with a rooftop­—because why not?).

The idea for the dog park-watering hole hybrid was hatched more than five years ago, when founder and CEO Stephen Ochs realized a need for more places to hang out with his beloved boxer, Oakley. He partnered with several local vendors to bring his vision to life, from West Midtown’s Firelight Coffee Roasters (try the custom nitro cold-brew blend exclusive to Fetch) to ride-share company Lymousine, which offers dog-friendly transportation to and from the location. Last month, Fetch also launched a collab with popular dating app Bumble to become a social hub for ATL’s singles. On the first Wednesday of every month, owners and their doggies are encouraged to wear green, yellow or red glow sticks, indicating a status of single, “it’s complicated” or taken, respectively.

When asked what he loves most about his new concept, Ochs doesn’t hesitate: “Seeing the joy that it’s bringing people. People are disappointed when they go out that they have to leave their dog at home. Here, they get to hang out, socialize, and their dogs get to play.” Sorry, Regina George—but it looks like Fetch is finally happening.
