Let’s set the scene: Chicken and waffles with sugar bacon gravy and pickled watermelon, or how about smoked pork chop with spicy apple chutney? Hungry yet? Behold, just a few of the Southern flavors that will tantalize your taste buds at The Westin Atlanta Perimeter North’s new Savor Bar & Kitchen. This OTP gem is in the well-seasoned hands of Executive Chef Robert Chaffin, a Le Cordon Bleu grad who’s worked everywhere from the Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla., to The Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City. Pull up a chair or sink into a couch on the resto’s swank lakeside patio for a fresh fall view. Then, get your drink on with an O Savor, Where Art Thou? Cocktail featuring a sweet blend of Georgia sour mash whiskey, peach schnapps, cinnamon, vanilla and bitters, while placing an order for one of Chaffin’s fave dishes. Recommendations include the triple seared filet of beef or, for something on the lighter side, the inventive crabcake burger (it’s always a “crowd-pleaser!” says Chaffin). And don’t even think about slipping out of here without dessert. Small bites served up in shot glasses (with flaves including brown butter apple tart and malted pecan pie) or the homemade chocolate cake with High Road vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce both serve as indulgent, worth-the-cal endings.
