Complete with vintage glam, disco-era tunes and funky ’70s- and ’80s-inspired libations, Politan Row’s mysterious new cocktail lounge has everyone coveting a reservation this weekend.
The woman behind the buzzy, era-inspired cocktails, beverage director Sophie Burton.
Picture this: a hidden passageway in the back of a major food hall. On the other side, a romantic, dark and brooding era-inspired cocktail lounge awaits, ready to transport you to the world of ’70s discos and ’80s futurism. The vision of Sophie Burton—beverage director of the aforementioned food hall, Politan Row—JoJo’s Beloved (@jojosbeloved) greets you with dramatic cathedral-height ceilings; vintage-inspired burgundy booths; the pink marble bar of your dreams, complete with gold foiling between each layer of stone; plus reminiscent tunes from an all-vinyl soundtrack that’s curated by the maitre d' nightly. Behind the bar, find the master beverage director herself whipping up nostalgic sips that pay homage to the eras of disco and glam. Cocktails include the funky Bluetsy Collins, made with Weber blue agave tequila, slightly spicy blue cordial, cocktail foam drops and topped with Topo Chico; and the Sagittarius Sour, an ode to the Midori Sour. Opened in late July, the Midtown speakeasy is already booked out more than a month, making it all the more intriguing.
