Make a Run for It!

Whether you know how to ski or prefer to chill chalet-style, there are plenty of reasons to head out west this winter. We’ve checked in with what’s new at some of our favorite locales to bring you the best slopeside indulgences the season has to offer. From hot hotels and cool clubs to chic spas and fab food offerings, we’ve got every aspect of your itinerary covered.

Park City, Utah For the extreme après-skier, it really doesn’t get better than The St. Regis Deer Valley. While your friends are wasting time on lift lines, pop by the 14,000-square-foot The St. Regis Athletic Club (no one said you have to spend the day on punishing runs to take the Yoga for Skiers class!). Then make new friends at the resort’s hottest addition–the outdoor Mountain Terrace Pavilion, where you can stay warm at a fire pit and listen to live music from regional musicians. Then try the attached Ski Beach Buffet for upscale bites, like wild game chili and, yes, a french-fry bar. Rooms from $627,, @stregisdv

Lake Tahoe, Calif. Straddling the California-Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort is introducing a custom-built mobile DJ snowcat to amp up the excitement at its High Roller Terrain Parks, and the Unbuckle at Tamarack après-ski party runs a half-price happy hour from 3:30 to 5:30pm at Tamarack Lodge, located at the top of the gondola. When the party wraps, make your way to Booyah’s Exotic Burgers and Brews, inside the Lakeview Lodge at the top of the Aerial Tram. Their build-your-own burger bar incredibly offers 250,000 different combos, including an array of seven types of bread, eight meats, 10 cheeses and 22 sauces. And the bar? A mere 97 microbrews on tap., @skiheavenly

Snowmass, Colo. Servicing Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk and Snowmass resorts, the town of Snowmass is a major crossroads for a wide cross-section of skiers. If you’re hunting for a funky crash pad, make a beeline for the newly renovated Wildwood Snowmass: The 151-room hotel is a Technicolor explosion of retro-chic furnishings. The time-warp party continues at the happening Bar at Wildwood, and at the hotel’s arcade—which comes complete with throwback games and pinball. This year’s most exciting addition, though, is Wildwood’s heated outdoor pool. If you do make it out of the hotel, check out Slice Red Barn Pizzeria for artisanal pizza and awe-inspiring mountain views; then hit Slopeside Lanes for late-night bowling with a side of tasty midnight snacks and drinks from the full bar. Rooms from $199,, @wildwoodsnowmas;

Beaver Creek, Colo. Girls night alert! Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, which just unveiled a $4 million renovation to its 190 guest rooms, is offering a Powder and Pampering: Ultimate Girls’ Winter Getaway package that comes with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot upon arrival, a girls-only skiing tour, a relaxing soak in the open air Veuve Clicquot Haute Tub and pampering at Allegria Spa. Rooms from $549, package rates from $530,, @hyattbc

Once you’re rested and refreshed, check out the newly renovated Grouse Mountain Grill at The Pines Lodge located slopeside at Beaver Creek. The modern mountain design and contemporary cuisine are a breath of fresh air in a town whose obsession with skiing can get a little heavy-handed. Give the duo of Colorado lamb a shot!

And for a truly unique spa experience, book one of the three new Chakra Blessings treatments at Spa Anjali, located inside The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain. Our favorite? The Manipura–Shine from Within Blessing, a package that gets you a detoxifying foot and body scrub, a bioenergy mud wrap and a marma point massage.;, @westinbvrcreek

Winter Park, Colo. During the summer, the C Lazy U guest ranch experience is like A River Runs Through It meets City Slickers, and, come wintertime, things get even more exciting, with offerings including luging, snow-tubing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. (You can also hop on nearby Winter Park Resort’s Cirque Sled to gain access to 1,332 acres of off-piste terrain at Vasquez Cirque.) While the 43-cabin camp dates back to 1919, it is offering new a la carte pricing plans this season, which means all the fun minus the commitment—choose your own adventure at your leisure! Rates from $249,, @c_lazy_u_ranch;, @winterpark

Jackson Hole, Wyo. Like your burger served with a side of ultraluxe accommodations? Head to The Handle Bar, a new beer hall inside the Four Seasons Resort & Residences Jackson Hole. Here, you’ll find wood-grilled burgers and sausages paired with a huge selection of beer and whiskey. Plus, guests staying at the brand’s other two mountain properties in Vail and Whistler, B.C., as part of the Four Seasons Mountain Collection Passport Program, will receive discounted lodging. (The program also gets you a complimentary custom snowboard or custom set of Prior skis.) Rates from $399,, @fsjacksonhole;, @handlebarjh
