Are you obsessed with kombucha yet? The fizzy, fermented tea drink is quickly becoming a go-to for health nuts and seltzer fanatics around the country.
It’s a little strange when you take your first sip, but you soon become addicted to its effervescent zest—and because it’s really great for your gut microbiome, there’s no reason not to indulge (in moderation, of course).
The process of fermenting the tea needed to create kombucha creates a very small amount of alcohol, and while there are hard kombuchas out there with very low alcohol-by-volume levels, you can add flavored kombuchas to any manner of spirit to create all manner of delightful cocktails.
Next time you host a party, spice things up with one of these.

Ghost Donkey was a Mexican-inspired bar with locations in New York City and Las Vegas—until the pandemic forced its doors to close. Bringing a bit of its spirit back to life, this bright citrus cocktail, from the mind of bartender Cat Sutherland, uses Remedy brand Kombucha to craft a refreshing and invigorating sip.
Ingredients
Directions
Build vodka, Lillet Blanc, lemon juice and simple syrup in a stemless wine glass. Stir to combine, top with kombucha and pinch of salt. Garnish with sliced seasonal berries.
Courtesy of GT’s Synergy kombucha, this is unlike any Old Fashioned you’ve ever had. It actually asks for reposado tequila and blends that brightness with pineapple kombucha and other fruity elements
Ingredients
Directions
In an Old Fashioned glass (tumbler or similar), add GT’s Synergy Golden Pineapple Kombucha, tequila, orange juice, lemon juice, and a dash of bitters. Garnish with a burnt orange peel and a toothpick. Place in one large ice cube.
Another delicious drink from Sutherland, Ghost Donkey and Remedy, this concoction fuses gin with ginger-lemon kombucha to set a balanced palate.
Ingredients
Directions
Add basil and simple syrup to a shaker and muddle. Add gin and lemon, give it a hard shake, then double strain over ice. Serve in a rocks glass and garnish with a basil sprig.
Spice up that vodka drink with some gut-healthy pineapple kombucha from GT's Living Foods, then add some ginger candy to bring a bit of sweet.
Ingredients
Directions
In a tall Collins glass, add ice cubes. Add GT’s Synergy Golden Pineapple Kombucha, vodka, a splash of fresh-pressed ginger juice and lime juice. Pierce ginger candy and a lime wheel with a toothpick as garnish.
One more fabulously-fun cocktail from GT’s, and this time it’s a true twist on the familiar favorite. We personally love the watermelon kombucha from GT’s, and who doesn’t love margaritas?
Ingredients
Directions
Combine the tequila and GT’s Syngery Kombucha Watermelon Wonder, and half of the jalapeño slices. Set aside for 15 to 30 minutes to infuse (the longer you infuse, the spicier it will be). In a blender, combine the watermelon with the lime juice and a handful of ice. Pour the watermelon lime juice into the half cut watermelons and stir 2 tablespoons of the tequila and kombucha mixture into half cut small watermelon. Garnish with the lime rounds.
