Kate the Great

By Kate Abney | February 2, 2016 | Articles

What’s better than getting the perfect kate spade new york handbag over the holidays? How about an entire suite of her furniture just in time for spring?! No, this isn’t a dream; the preppy fashion designer has indeed expanded her home-decor repertoire to include the full gamut of furniture, lighting, rugs, wallpaper and fabrics after longstanding success in the wedding registry categories. Her 325 new SKUs comprise four different groups of products by as many makers, now merchandized at Buckhead’s Mathews’ Furniture + Design in ravishing vignettes. The fabrics and wallpapers come from the good folks at Kravet; the glamorous lighting is by Visual Comfort; the floral, geometric and animal-print rugs were manufactured by Atlanta-based JAIPUR; and the furnishings are made by North Carolina-based EJ Victor. Don’t miss the midcentury-style chests, dotty Downing desk, a coffee table with chic brass inset and the curvalicious Drake chair. But it’s not all girly stuff. “The line is a great merging of pieces that appeal to both men and women. It’s all about the mix; a slipper chair paired with a stately wingback, or black-and-white fabrics set next to bold florals,” says resident buyer and interior designer Nina Nash. Sometimes, you just gotta call a spade a spade! From $380, @mathewsdesigner; @katespadeny
