C hocolate truffles, gummy worms and licorice—oh, my. Global candy artist Jackie Sorkin is shifting the world of sweets with Candytopia: a no-holds-barred, beautifully excessive experience that’s (finally!) made its way to the A after popping up—and selling out—in cities like San Francisco and Manhattan since its first stint in Santa Monica just last year. Consider it the next Instagram sensation of our city, with more than a dozen interactive rooms coated in colorful candy art and offering endless backdrops for selfies and squad shots alike through June 2—not to mention a definite destination for celeb sightings. A-listers such as Jessica Biel, Wiz Khalifa, Christina Aguilera, Kevin Durant and more have been spotted snapping photos and indulging their sweet tooth via samples inside the creative concept.
“My vision was to create an over-the-top immersive candy dreamworld where anyone and everyone can be a kid again and just have fun,” explains Sorkin, whose name you might recognize from TLC’s Candy Queen. “It’s an overwhelmingly awesome sweet retreat that evokes pure imagination unlike anything else.” Per the candy-obsessed co-founder: Expect “a swimming pool full of more than half a million giant marshmallows; an underwater-themed wonderland filled with candy-covered sea creatures, mermaids and treasures; flying unicorn pigs; lots of awe-inspiring colossal candy creations; and new Atlanta-inspired elements.” (Think a The Real Housewives of Atlanta portrait, a sugary tribute to the Braves and, of course, an oversize candy-coated Georgia peach.) Sounds like Willy Wonka might have met his match. Tickets $28, EDENS Lenox Marketplace, Buckhead, @thecandytopia; @jackiesorkin
