Known for her beautiful designs throughout Atlanta, interior designer Janie Hirsch shares that one of her most rustic projects can be found off the beaten path in Sharpsburg, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
In collaboration with Bynum Homes, Hirsch helps bring a working horse farm to life by designing a home that seamlessly blends family heritage with the rustic charm of the surrounding landscape. The result? A stunning residence that makes you want to take a trip to the nearest Equestrian Farmstead.
As you step through the antique pine doors into the music room from the foyer, you’re greeted by a warm ambiance. The brick floors that flame the kitchen lay in a classic herringbone pattern, which adds a touch of timeless elegance. Keeping the traditional elements of the horse farm, like the barn and wrought iron entryway, this 45-acre compound will make you want to sit on the front porch with a sweet tea to take it all in.

Throughout the home, hardwood flooring and beams made of reclaimed pine create a rustic yet refined atmosphere. The study is adorned with a custom-made gun cabinet, showcasing antique rifles passed down through generations.
Taking a step outside to the pool, the brick outdoor kitchen features cabinets made from wood salvaged from the family’s great-grandfather’s smokehouse. This thoughtful touch extends the warmth of the home to the backyard.
For a family of six whose daughters are passionate about horseback riding, this home highlights Hirsch’s ability to blend tradition with elegance.
In a world that often feels fast-paced and impersonal, this property is a testament to the fact that the most meaningful designs are those that connect us to our roots and the beauty of simpler times. jhirschinteriors.com
