1. Earn your turkey alongside thousands of runners and walkers at the Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K at Turner Field and embrace the holiday spirit by donating clothes to the Atlanta Mission. Half marathon, 7:30AM, $80; 5K, 8AM, $35

2. Kick off your day of feasting with the Five Star Turkey Trot in Johns Creek. Each runner is encouraged to bring nonperishable items to share with local food banks. 5K, 10K, 15K and half marathon, 8AM, $15, free for all runners who raced with Five Star between Dec. 1, 2013 and Nov. 22, 2014

3. With live music and family activities, the Gobble Jog in historic Marietta Square has become a Turkey Day tradition. All proceeds benefit MUST Ministries, which provides food, clothing and services to Georgia families in need. 10K, 7:30AM, $35; timed 5K, 9AM, $35; 9:30AM, untimed 5K run/walk, $30

4. Feel guilt-free about all the gobbling when you sweat it out at the Tryptophan Half Marathon 10K/5K to support Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with a beautiful (and flat!) course along the Big Creek Greenway in Cumming. Half marathon, 7:30AM, $75; 10K, 7:45AM, $50; 5K, 8AM, $35

5. Road trip! For the holiday weekend, head to Savannah, where you can take part in the 4-mile United Way Turkey Trot at Daffin Park, with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit. Remember to pack your pilgrim hat and turkey feathers—an award will be given for best costume! 8:30AM, $25-$35 in advance, $40 on race day
