Throwing a dinner party that won’t make your guests want to poke their eyes out is a difficult task.
Because you have the absolute worst luck, you’re always seated next to that nerdy tech guy who won’t stop talking your ear off about bitcoin.
When it’s your turn to host, you will do everything in your power to not make your party a total snooze fest.

To ensure your party is a hit, we’ve connected with culinary guru, Katie Lee, renowned television food critic, co-host of Food Network’s “The Kitchen”, and two-time cookbook author.
Below are Katie’s expert tips and tricks for throwing the ultimate holiday party.
Tip #1: Curate the Perfect Guest List
When it comes to throwing an unforgettable party or an intimate dinner, the first step is to curate a guest list of friends and family who will make the evening extra special with the joy and vibe they bring to a gathering.
Tip #2: Get Resourceful With Your Meal
While you might have the urge to spend hours preparing and cooking in the kitchen, find ways to make it easier for yourself. It is perfectly ok to buy prepared hors d’oeuvres and dessert, allowing you to focus on the main course. Or order everything from one of your favorite restaurants and plate it up on your best serving platters.
Tip #3: Have A Drink Ready At The Door
A great host/hostess will make sure to have a delicious cocktail for their guests upon arrival. For a lunch or dinner party, I recommend greeting guests with an Aperol Spritz. I am a big fan of the Aperol Spritz and with its bright orange color, it’s the perfect festive cocktail for any occasion. As an iconic Italian cocktail, the Aperol Spritz pairs perfectly with many food options, setting the stage for the ultimate Italian moment during Aperitivo hour - and beyond!
Tip #4: Curate an Expert Playlist
Who doesn’t love good music? As your guests are arriving and enjoying their Aperol Spritzes, you can set the mood by creating a playlist that fits the vibe of your dinner party. Whether you’re jamming out to Motown, or feeling a little more recent, having the right music will ease everyone into the party and make sure everyone is ready to enjoy the evening.
