Mary Kathryn Design is taking the Southeast by storm—one lightning bolt-shaped earring at a time.

The eclectic jewelry line is the definition of cool girl, boasting everything from those aforementioned lightning bolt-shaped earrings to embellished mask chains (think a trendier version of your grandma’s vintage sunglass chain adapted to accessorize your must-wear mask). Behind the brand is #girlboss Mary Kathryn Martinson. At just 26 years old, the SCAD grad-turned-business owner is in a league of her own, designing and creating timeless staples and bold statement pieces that are one of a kind and always on trend.
Already, Mary Kathryn Design’s unique creations have caught the attention of influencers and boutique owners alike, solidifying it as a must-stop on Atlanta Apparel’s market circuit. The brand even has a famous fan base, whose most notable members include Carrie Underwood, Sadie Robertson and Emma Chamberlain. For Martinson, the success is somewhat serendipitous. “I never imagined it would get where it is now,” she says of the biz, which started as a passion project before friends—and social media masses—laid eyes on her creations. “It just kind of happened and I’m so glad it did.”
Now, Martinson is focused on pushing that passion into the future. She teases collaborations with different designers and dishes on plans for Mary Kathryn Design’s new headquarters, which will open this month in Nashville. But first, the bride-to-be is working on a collection close to her heart: an extension of the brand’s bridal line inspired by her own upcoming “I do’s.”
