Gala for Good

| June 30, 2011 | Parties National

The Place: The InterContinental Buckhead. The Cause: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Buzz: More than 700 Atlantans attended the 16th annual Hope for a Cure Gala, helping to raise $1.6 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. The gala, co-chaired by Michea Duffy and Nancy Rollins, was the most successful in the history of the Georgia JDRF chapter. The affair kicked off with a silent auction and cocktail party, followed by a seated dinner, live auction and inspirational stories from actress Elizabeth Payne and JDRF CEO Jeffrey Brewer. From there, the Fund a Cure portion wrapped up the night with speaker Andrew Wise, who shared his personal story as the beneficiary of a JDRF-funded study. Photography by Jim Fitts
