THE PROJECT
Interior designer Elle Cantrell with Elle Du Monde wanted to elevate their client’s home to match their contemporary style. “Our goal was to transform the house from a standard builder spec to a showstopper,” she says. The client loved the location and layout of their home. However, they wanted a living space that matched their personal style. As moving was not an option, Cantrell worked within the set floorplans to allow her client to “fall in love with their house again.”

THE INSPIRATION
Cantrell has worked on several furnishing projects with this client before, making the project exciting and exceptionally creative. Having a client who trusted her vision allowed Cantrell to push the envelope on interior design. She revitalized the space and honored her clients’ individuality by redesigning the basic builder finishes, making the home versatile yet comfortable.

THE DETAIL
By adding high-contrast elements and bold accents, Cantrell renewed the interior of her client’s home. She transformed the front sitting room, a previously underutilized space, into a “lounge perfect for both entertaining or quiet evenings at home,” she notes. In the kitchen, a Cambria quartz countertop, rich green island, and black vent hood work together to make a striking ensemble.

THE OUTCOME
Cantrell devoted much of her time to making the front sitting room usable and attractive. The front room is the “first space you see when walking into the front door, and now it sets the tone for the rest of the home,” she says. The room is a perfect space for cocktail parties or a cozy night in.
