Country Road

By Ashton Pike | August 8, 2017 | Articles

Competing for JoJo Fletcher’s heart on The Bachelorette alongside 25 other men surely gave James McCoy Taylor inspiration for a few country songs. The Texas native, who became a fan fave on the hit ABC show for his velvety voice and charming good looks, is now spending his days in the recording studio with his other half (his guitar, of course) and making the trip from Nashville, Tenn., to our city as often as he can.

The singer-songwriter recently filmed music videos for “The Way That I Want You” and “The Opposite”—his favorite tracks off his EP dropping Aug. 7—in the A near his former OTP home of three years, Marietta. “Everything from the farmers market to just that good, Southern, together feeling that a place like the [Marietta] Square brings is hard to beat,” Taylor says.

Looking back on his ATL days, he remembers, “[My friend Marcus] was not-so-sober after a night in Buckhead and was scrolling through Facebook while sitting at Waffle House, when he came across a link for [The Bachelorette] applications. He said I just popped in his mind for some reason, and he knew I had been looking for a good girl.” Who knew that a late-night WaHo web search would lead to a 180-degree life change for the eligible bachelor?

It’s now been more than a year since his time on the rose-clad dating show, but Taylor reveals with a laugh that he’s still “totally on the market” (hint, hint, ladies!). We must say, the Southern gent sure knows how to court a lady after his TV appearance: “Every girl should be dated like she’s the only girl in the world,” he shares. “That’s the biggest thing I brought from that journey.” @jamesmccoytaylor
