Bonjour, Amour

There’s a little extra “green” in our tree-covered city now that Amour Vert has arrived at Ponce City Market. Launched in 2010, the San Francisco-based clothing brand, the name of which translates to “green love” in French, has been preaching the benefits of sustainable fashion long before it was a thing. “It’s more than a trend for us,” says Amanda Salinas, the company’s head of marketing. “From the factories to the fibers, sustainability is the Amour Vert standard.”

Chosen for its vibrant culture and wealth of environmental initiatives, Atlanta marks Amour Vert’s first location outside of the Golden State, and the start of an exciting plan to expand along the East Coast. “We already had a strong customer base in Atlanta before we opened the new store, but now we are meeting people every day and growing quickly,” Salinas says. “We are definitely feeling the Southern hospitality.”

Inside the store, bursts of greenery and bright, clean accents mingle with the clothing: Think “the softest tees and dresses you will ever touch,” says Salinas, plus exclusive silk prints launched on a monthly basis. Shoppers will also discover a variety of goods from Amour Vert’s sustainable partners, like Veja fair trade sneakers (a fave of the Duchess of Sussex) and a collection of denim with AGOLDE that’s crafted using 100 percent organic and recycled cotton.

Although 97 percent of Amour Vert’s clothing is made within a few miles of its Bay Area headquarters, the brand has an undeniably French aesthetic (hence its moniker). “We are constantly inspired by the classic appeal of French style,” Salinas shares. “Our pieces are timeless and can be worn season after season, which is not only French, but also sustainable.” Her tips for nailing the coveted French-girl look? “It’s all about putting your own twist on classic pieces, flattering your figure and being confident,” she says. “And when in doubt, you can’t go wrong with a classic stripe—which we have plenty of!” @amourvert
