Best in the West

Kate Abney | April 25, 2013 | Articles

Helmed by the humble Yu-Kai Lin, 33, this on-the-pulse art house is fast attracting all the cool kids in A-Town: think sophisticated, trendy movers and shakers (much like Lin himself—who got his big break in 2008 with an eponymous gallery in Midtown). “The Westside is the best side,” he says with a grin. If the army of attendees to his late-spring unveiling is any indication, he has indeed found his hipster haven. Sifting through hundreds of artists’ works each quarter, Lin hand-selects the crème de la crème—photography, mixed-media, paintings, sculpture, and more, ringing up at $500 to $7,000 apiece—to showcase at his undulating Brady Avenue spot. His best tip for burgeoning art buyers? Mix things up! “After a while, art can become like wallpaper, but move it around, and you’ll see it in a different way.” We dare you to resist the ravishing works up for grabs from talents like Nathaniel Galka, Wallace Duvall and Jon Arge. Good art, Lin reveals, is not just beautiful; it’s an investment in our happiness. We’re all smiles! @kailinart
