West Midtown’s new restaurant, Avize (avizeatlanta.com), is more than a place just to sit and eat. It is a homage to the heritage and community of the Alpine region’s eight countries.

Inside the space, a smoky ambiance and naturalesque art complement the farm-to-table menu, where even the sauces and breadcrumbs are made from scratch. Chef Karl Gorline devotes countless hours to his business.
He believes that when you feed people, they eat your creation and what you sourced.
For this reason, Avize partners with Bremen Farms, local and ultra-certified vendors from the Alpine region. Tasting the wine menu will lead you from France to Germany. With Sommelier Taurean’s expertise, many cocktails are a fusion of his employees’ personal and culinary history.

Sustainability and community are the foundation of Gorline’s vision. Without fail, the restaurant staff has a “family dinner” every night using whatever food would otherwise be wasted.
When asked how he can minimize food waste, Gorline said, “I feed my people.”

Gorline gives the production team Monday and Tuesday off because he realizes so much goes into making these creations come to life. Even the homemade sourdough bread takes 48 hours to make, which is complimentary if you make a reservation.
The website is easy to navigate, and there are three seating options: reservations for the main dining area, the Jewel Box and walk-ins are welcome to unwind at the bar. The official release date for the second part of this restaurant concept has yet to be announced. Still, hopefully, by the end of this year, “Bar Avize” will open with a more relaxing atmosphere and excellent cocktails and fun bites to bring Atlanta an elevated and exciting bar.
