Atlantan Isaiah John (@isaiahkjohn) looks toward the stars as his uber successful acting career continues with the season five premiere of FX's Snowfall.
Tell me about your journey into acting.
My journey into acting started when I was 13, but, interestingly enough, I recently found a notebook from fifth grade where I wrote, ‘I want to be an actor one day.’ I didn’t even know that I wanted to be in this career at such a young age. My first acting role came before I had any form of training. My dad’s co-worker was in film school and needed a young actor for his project. Once I completed that short film I was hooked and trained for the next several years. I consciously didn’t want to audition for anything until I felt confident in my acting abilities.
What has it been like working with the crew on Snowfall?
Working with the Snowfall crew has been a dream. We are all one big family on set, always laughing together and enjoying each other’s presence. We also grieved together as we went through the loss of the great John Singleton, growing closer in the midst of our pain. That’s a true family!
Any sneak peeks into season five that you can share?
The only sneak peek I can give is Leon has a huge character arc ahead of him. He is going through a lot of personal changes that I feel are great for this character.
Any exciting new projects in the pipeline?
As of right now, I am studying and auditioning for projects. I am excited about the future of my acting career and am definitely anticipating my next project. An action-packed movie would be great, but whatever direction I am heading toward will be amazing!
You recently became a dad! How is fatherhood treating you?
Becoming a father was the best feeling in the world. There’s just an indescribable feeling you get when you see a little version of yourself. I’m excited for what’s to come in this journey, which I know will be one of the most rewarding of my life. I now have an even bigger reason to do my absolute best in everything I do.
What’s your favorite part about living in Atlanta?
I love living in Atlanta because it’s home. I go to Los Angeles to film and then head back home when we finish a season. Atlanta has a lot to offer and a lot of places to go. I love walking the various trails. Horseback riding, boat paddling, doing anything outdoors is where you’ll find me. I’m happy to continue calling Atlanta my home.
