Kebbel is a fan of Little Five Points, thanks to her time spent in the A filming The Vampire Diaries.
You likely know actress and Florida native Arielle Kebbel from her memorable big-screen roles in John Tucker Must Die and Think Like a Man and small-screen stints on UnREAL, The Vampire Diaries and The League, among others. These days, the 31-year-old is prepping for a new season in the spotlight with the return of HBO hit Ballers (this July) and a role in 50 Shades Freed (February 2018), the third installment of the steamy 50 Shades of Grey franchise. Here, Kebbel talks Atlanta, sports and Mr. Grey.
What can you tell us about the upcoming season of Ballers?
Andy Garcia has joined the cast. He adds a lot of juice to the show, and I’m excited to see what people think. As far as [my character] Tracy and Spencer [Dwayne Johnson’s character] go, Spencer has a lot on his plate. It’s really about his journey of how he’s going to handle it all. There are a lot of surprises and possibly a lot of upsets.
Juicy! Do you find yourself watching ESPN more being on a show about sports?
Heck yeah! I love hanging out with my friends watching football. You eat good food; you laugh with your friends; you yell at the TV and cheer on your favorite players. It’s an American pastime that I really look forward to.
Sports reigns supreme in the South, and you’ve spent a lot of time here thanks to your Florida roots and filming The Vampire Diaries. What do you love most about coming here?
The humidity. I love humidity and everyone thinks I’m a freak for it, and that’s totally OK with me. I love it. I get off the plane and my skin is so happy.
Speaking of freaky things, have you done your research on 50 Shades of Grey yet?
I went on vacation last year, and for the first time ever, I was like ‘I’m not going to bring scripts with me; I’m not going to work. So what am I going to read? Ooh, I know; I’m going to read 50 Shades of Grey!’ Honestly, I could only get through 10 pages at a time because then I was just so horny I was like, ‘I have to put this down!’ [laughs] Now that I’m part of the trilogy, I’ve ordered the second and third to do research. I’ll let you know how that goes.
