Acura sends off its wild NSX supercar in style with the new high-performance Type S spec.
The standard carbon fiber roof lowers the NSX’s center of gravity for improved performance. If you want to go even more lightweight, consider the Lightweight Package, which uses carbon ceramic brakes and a carbon fiber engine cover and interior trim to reduce the NSX’s curb weight by nearly 58 pounds.
When they think Acura, so many people’s first thought is the NSX. This mid-engine supercar made a huge splash when it debuted back in 1989, becoming a symbol of Silicon Valley success and high-flying Wall Street excess. Then, after an 11-year hiatus that began in 2005, the NSX made a comeback, relaunching in 2016 as a hybrid supercar. Now, Acura is ready to send the current-gen NSX out with a bang—a 600-horsepower bang in the form of the 2022 NSX Type S. But, you better get your name on the list fast, as Acura is only building 350 units for 2022, and only 300 of them are earmarked for the U.S. market.
The driver-focused cockpit of the NSX features these formfitting seats upholstered in smooth suedelike Alcantara and semi-aniline leather. Red seat belts and contrast stitching combine with the embossed NSX logos on the headrests to further elevate the NSX’s supercar cred.
