Atlanta will welcome a variety of highly-anticipated eateries to its most popular neighborhoods this year. From wagyu beef to assorted mezze, restaurant-goers can experience these nine grand openings’ newly debuted culinary delights.

Sandy Spring’s Chastain Market will welcome the first-ever solo restaurant from Ford Fry’s chef Kevin Maxey, Italian eatery Pendolino. Taking over the former 4,500-square-foot Santorini Taverna space, the concept will debut sunlit patio seating, a wood bar, a wood-burning oven, a private dining space and more in an inviting, contemporary atmosphere. Visitors will enjoy brunch, lunch, late-night eats and wine selections while embarking on a dining experience reminiscent of Italy’s ristorantes.

Husband-and-wife-duo chef Malik Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan of Che Butter Jonez will open their latest concept in late winter or early spring. Located on downtown Atlanta’s Mitchell St. at the premier Origin Hotel, Butter + Scotch will whip up Afro-Caribbean breakfast bites, signature meals and comfort food favorites, including the Sh!t Slambing lamb burger, first debuted at Che Butter Jonez.

James Beard award-winning chef Terry Koval’s latest restaurant concept will open its doors in Decatur this spring, bringing decadent light bites and a romantic, candle-lit atmosphere with it. The owner of B-Side and The Deer and The Dove is joined by beverage director Matt Watkins, introducing wine offerings from across the globe and a vast array of amaro selections. Light bites, such as charcuterie, caviar and in-house baked bread, are predicted to appear on the menu.

Slated to open this spring, fine-dining Japanese restaurant and sake bar Yuji will accompany Yeppa and Co. at the Junction Krog District, introducing a Kaiseki-inspired multi-course dinner menu. The latest concept from Alex Kinjo, owner of MF Sushi, Kinjo Room and Mai Kitchen, will feature sake pairings for each course alongside craft cocktails, beer and unresistible sushi rolls.

Mediterranean, Greek, Moroccan, Turkish and Israeli flavor profiles will come to life at Fifth Group Restaurants’ Ela. The group responsible for Ecco, Lure, South City Kitchen, Alma Cocina and La Tavola will present multi-cultural signature dishes, fresh ingredients, assorted mezze and a selection of craft cocktails, spirits and wine pairings, all led by executive chef Darragh Dudley. Located in the former Original El Taco space, restaurant-goers will enjoy breezy patio seating and a reimagined space with booths and high-top tables.

Top Chef finalist and owner of Michelin Guide-recommended eatery Gunshow, Kevin Gillespie, is back with the opening of Nàdair, an elevated concept with live-fire cooking. Located in the Floataway Cafe venue in Morningside, Gillespie’s latest restaurant is forecasted to elaborate on the former Woodfire Grill’s contemporary, farm-to-table menu offerings, bringing culinary expertise and fresh ingredients to each dish, beverage and hors d’oeuvre.

Mouthwatering pastries, Taiwanese fried chicken sandwiches, mille crepe cakes and deep-fried sweet potato fries with plum sauce will debut on Lucky Star’s menu, the latest project from chef Jason Liang and his wife, party chef ChingYao Wang. Slated to open in the late winter or early spring of 2024, the Asian-fusion eatery will include a café in the Star Metals lobby and a reservation-only bar, serving exclusive cocktails organized by Kirk Gibson of the Giving Kitchen.

The latest project by chef Fuyuhiko Ito will arrive in Atlanta’s Spring Quarter this fall, serving up fresh seafood flown straight from Japan up to five times per week. From seasonal sushi and sashimi to the restaurant’s upstairs, reservation-only 15-course dining experience, the former chef of MF Buckhead and Umi will unveil Japanese culinary delights alongside Western-inspired delicacies, such as caviar and truffles, coupled with Wagyu beef, in-house ponzu sauce and more at his latest endeavour.

James Beard semifinalist and Indigo Road Restaurants partner Steve Palmer is expected to launch his newest culinary concept by the end of the year. The currently unnamed restaurant’s ground-breaking plans include taking over the famed H.M Patterson building and serving all-day dining and beverage offerings. The culinary team plans to preserve many of the Spring Quarter building’s historic design features and will continue to reveal additional details, including anticipated menu items and more, as the opening draws closer.
