6 Ways to Get Fit and Fab in Feb

By Melissa Howsam | February 7, 2017 | Articles

EMBRACE #SQUADGOALS Tell your besties to meet you at the bar—a la gym rack. Working out with a partner “will help hold you accountable and make going to workouts more fun,” Mason says. Not to mention it will keep your quit reflex in check: “If you don’t show up to class, you won’t be the only one who knows!”

PUT MONEY ON THE LINE Sign up for a boutique fitness class. “Instead of going to the gym and doing a little here or there until you decide you are ready to dip out, committing yourself to a 50ish-minute workout will keep you there and working hard the whole time,” offers Mason. Plus, “these pricier classes will make ditching at the last minute harder since you will lose your credit!”

STICK TO WHAT YOU LOVE No one said working out has to suck. “Find a workout that you love and keep to it,” says Mason. “Yoga or cardio or whatever might not be for everyone.” So scale walls (we see you, Parkour); stretch in a hotpod (it’s a thing in the U.K.—Google it); old-school dance party it up… in essence, get off yo’ asana and just move.

TRACK YOUR SUCCESS Establish a fitocracy (you can be prez) with a “punch card” for the month. “Make goals on how many workouts you hope to do over the course of the month,” Mason suggests, “and each time you do workout, you get to punch or X off a class… [which] is rewarding and an easy way to keep track.” Inspo, check!

MAKE A SCHED Every day I’m hustlin’! According to Mason, “consistency is key, so designate certain days and times as your go-to for workouts.” And, boutique-loyals: “Hopefully [your go-to spot has] an app so you can book out through the booking window and reference your schedule easily on your phone.”

DRESS CUTE (DUH!) Forget LBD retail therapy… that sassy new adidas by Stella McCartney workout getup oughta motivate. “Getting to the workout is the hardest part,” Mason admits, “so getting geared up with a fun new outfit makes going a little more exciting [and] will make you look forward to wearing it!” We’ll take that guilt-free shopping-sesh excuse… lulu binge, anyone? @sculpthouse
