Catch new episodes of WAGS Atlanta (stands for Wives and Girlfriends of Sports, BTW!) Wednesdays at 10pm on E!—and look for the beautiful Brandi Rhodes.
We’re excited that the WAGS franchise has expanded to ATL and, of course, that both you and former JEZ Most Beautiful Kaylin Jurrjens are cast members. What were your initial thoughts when you were approached about joining the show? “Initially, I wasn’t sure about joining a cast of women that large. I’m used to being a solo act and doing my own thing. After doing the show, I’m still not sure about it [laughs]. I’m a hardworking woman, and fighting for attention has never been my thing. I didn’t get where I am today by any methods other than hard work, plain and simple.”
What can viewers expect from the first season? “From me, you can expect to see a slice of my life. For those who don’t know, my husband [Cody Rhodes] and I are both athletes. We are pro wrestlers. The Rhodes family is one of the most famous and highest regarded families in all of wrestling. We have a huge fan base. Those fans have been longing to see us outside of the ring for years. We are going to give them a look at what that is like for the very first time.”
Which of the other WAGS ladies would you say you’re closest to? “I get on well with Sincerely [Ward] and Kaylin. We stay in touch a lot, and we filmed a lot together, so, naturally, we gelled quite well!”
What was the most fun part about filming? “Getting to be myself. I don’t believe in changing who you are for cameras. If you aren’t entertaining without having to do that, then maybe it’s not for you.”
And the biggest challenge? “My schedule. I’m so happy to say that 2017 was the year that my career completely skyrocketed, but with that, I had to travel all over the world and find time to film. Many times, for these scenes, I was walking o of a plane on no sleep to a location to get the shot in!”
What’s next for you in 2018? “I just started style blogging for okmagazine.com; I have my own style blog, notanotherbasicb.com; I am competing in the [Ring of Honor Wrestling] Women of Honor first-ever championship tournament; and I’m in talks on another TV endeavor as we speak! I keep saying 2017 was only a test run. It was incredibly busy, but 2018 will surely top it!” @thebrandirhodes
