Snag a pair of Midheaven Denim jeans, which boast inseams up to 38 inches.
Why was it important for you to do this line for Atlanta’s tall set?
“It was a regular occurrence for me leaving stores empty-handed because I couldn't find the right fit in clothing, specifically in denim. What I found was a lack of brands that cater to taller women too. I wanted to fill that gap.”
Why specifically denim?
“I live my life in jeans, as do most of the people in my life. To me, its fashion's greatest staple. Before Midheaven came to be, I could count on one hand how many times I'd found a pair of jeans that were truly long enough for me. I created a product I needed; plain and simple.”
And the line has a green element to it, right?
“Midheaven Denim sources Italian fabric produced in the world's greenest denim mill—a mill that takes valuable measures to promote environmentally-conscious production tactics. They use cotton sourced from BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) and practice the rules of reduce, reuse and recycle throughout their manufacturing process, including the recycling of all waste products from their spinning, warping and dying departments.”
Do people wear denim differently in the South?
“I've always felt that Southern women have a class to them unlike anywhere else, and the way denim is worn here is a great testament to that. Clothes are worn to fit properly here and people dress a little more upscale in their everyday wear. I feel lucky to have the influence of both cultures, my background, my past and my present, as I can see each come out through the brand in their own unique ways.”
Do you have any favorites from your line?
“It's hard to say because we have so many new styles coming out that I’m so in love with… but if I had to chose my favorite pair, I'd probably say the Valentinas. They are dramatic enough to stand out but still functional so as to be worn day or night. The Astrid is what I wear most. Nothing beats a simple black skinny in my opinion, and the fabric is so soft. I live in those jeans.” $198-$280, @midheavendenim
