By Allison Mitchell | January 18, 2016 | Articles

1. Katherine Akra of The Barre Scene
This former Miami Heat dancer made her studio-owner dreams a reality when she opened The Barre Scene in late 2015. “I truly believe in the balance of devoting time to your health and fitness goals but also finding moments to relax and enjoy life around you,” Akra says. “My workout program brings clients results and allows them to also enjoy the time they are in the studio working hard.” @the_barre_scene

2. Jessica Smithgall of DEFINE body & mind
It was love at first workout for this body and mind beauty. “When I found DEFINE during a visit to Texas, I knew that I wanted to bring it to Atlanta,” Smithgall says. The Atlanta native and owner of the Buckhead studio left the music biz behind to pursue a career in fitness and hasn’t looked back. “Opening DEFINE has been scary, but fear is a great motivator,” she adds. “It’s a roller coaster ride, but I’m loving it!” @definebody

3. Jeremy Levison of BURN Studios
After 10 years in the fitness industry, this ATL native and former Flywheel Buckhead cycling guru has struck out on his own. “Opening BURN has really been a dream come true,” Levison says. “It’s amazing to combine my entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for health and wellness, and bring a truly unique workout experience to the city.”

4. Lily Collins of The Daily
An Atlanta native, this fit belle recently opened The Daily, a sweet studio that offers up Pilates reformer, mat and endurance classes. “After years of personal training, I’ve found the combination of HIIT endurance training and Pilates to be the most effective, safest way to build a lean, fit physique,” she says. “And since there aren’t many options to do your teasers and wall balls all in one place, I decided to create it myself.” @thedailypilates

5. Katherine Mason of SculptHouse
The brains behind SculptHouse, this fit female found her niche in NYC working it as a fitness model and training at top studios such as SLT, New York. “I’m so excited to share SculptHouse with Atlanta,” Mason says. “It really combines everything I loved about the fitness world in New York—the fashion and the group fitness—to create a fitness haven.” @sculpthouse
