If The Consulate isn’t Atlanta’s most unique restaurant, it’s definitely in the top 10. From its rotating menu to detailoriented interior, this global kitchen has spared no expense in providing guests with an experience they won’t forget. We can’t say we’re surprised—the concept is the product of power-couple and coowners Mei Lin and Douglas Hines, who serve as the executive chef and interior designer behind the restaurant. In an effort to bring global cuisine to Atlanta, The Consulate offers a “visa” section of its menu that changes every three months. The section is completely dedicated to cuisine from a specific country, chosen by a lucky guest every 90 days.

This spot’s classic Italian dishes feature modern twists, as seen through the starters, which celebrate fresh ingredients through dishes such as a classic caprese served with mozzarella di bufala, heirloom tomatoes, basil, olive oil and aged balsamic. The mains give choice between handmade pasta in dishes such as the cappelletti, filled with ricotta, grana, spinach, brown butter and sage, and other Italian favorites, such as the grilled branzino fillet, served with layered potatoes, tomatoes and squash.
